The Duero River flows past the town of Soria in the heart of Spain.
This timeless scene is as much a part of literature as it is of the landscape. Its ascetic grandeur — "somber oaks, harsh stony wastelands, bald peaks" — still retains the vision of Antonio Machado, one of the great lyric poets of the 20th century.
